Cottage Cove at Mountain Lake is committed to the preservation of our communities and surrounding natural environment. That is why we build green to conserve energy and resources, while reducing energy consumption and maintenence costs down the road for home owners.

We will acheive this by

• Framing in the houses will be standard 2 x 6 exterior walls, thus adding superior insulation.

• We will use Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS) as an upgrade to acheive even greater energy insulation.

Some advantages of SIPS include:

• Green product. uses less materials than conventional framing
• Superior r-value means huge cost savings for the homeowner in energy savings.
• Superior construction - SIPS are actually stronger than a stick framed house and take less time to construct
• SIPS are fully renewable. any waste gets shipped back to the manufacturer where it is recycled and used again. see www.sips.org for more information  

• Zero maintenence on the exterior. the use of pre-painted hardi-plank, vinyl windows, composite decking and metal roofing will eliminate the need for mainenance and potential polution to the environment. (lake)  

• Interior: we will utlilise features such as low flushing toilets, tankless hot water systems, efficient hvac systems etc to reduce energy consumption.  

• Quality construction methods. the foundation will have steel frames above the floats vs wood frames as other builders do to ensure a lasting structure.  

• Main sewage system that takes everything away to the street sewer system. currently all floating homes have septic tanks in the lake which causes pollution problems.
